RedSharks, JDF and Hyenas Win In Week 1.

National Club Championships Results: Week 1


The 16th National Club Championship (NCC) kicked off on Saturday, June 11, with six of the eight teams in action.




West Kingston Hyenas 18 def. Young Crocs Academy 4


Two matches were played at Up Park Camp, in the first encounter at 2pm, West Kingston Hyenas overpowered debutants Young Crocs Academy 18-4. The Hyenas were led by national player Omar Jones had 8 points from two tries. Support came from Andrew Hylton with 8 points and Eric Groves with two goals.


Josshawn Stewart scored the only points for Young Crocs Academy when he went over for a try in the dying stages.

JDF Warriors 44 def. Liguanea Dragons 6


In the 4pm game at Up Park Camp, the Army were convincing in victory, outscoring their opponents by 38 points. Centre Ricardo Groves and prop Courtney Dennis each scored two tries. Demar Willaims, Craig McHayle, Rommel Flemmings, Javon Hall and Ruja Gordan got one try apiece. Experienced fullback Nicolai Kennedy kicked 4 goals to seal the win.


Liguanea’s lone try was scored by winger Joseph Mitchell, meanwhile national player Adrian Hall kicked one goal.

Duhaney Park RedSharks def. 66 Portmore Rugby League Club 16


In the 3rd game of the day, defending champions Duhaney Park took the field against Portmore at the Cedar Grove Academy. The Champs were led by half-backs Adrian Brown with 24 points from 1 try and 9 goal kicks and scrum-half Jenson Morris who scored a hat-trick. Support came from and Ryan Grant and Adrian Thomas with two tries each, while Daniel Graham, Miguel Facey, Kenneth Walker, and Chawn Henry all notched one try.

Portmore was led by national player Antonio Baker who bagged three tries, meanwhile Shemar Nugent and Kaden Hunter each had a drop goal.
