JDF Warriors Are 2026 Men’s NCC Rugby League Champs

The JDF Warriors are the 2026 Jamaica National Club Championship (NCC) winners after a commanding 26-10 victory over 1^st time minor premiers Liguanea Dragons on September 5th. It was a remarkable achievement for the Warriors who are winning their first title since 2008 in their 5^th grand-finals. The Dragons on the other hand, were in their 2^nd finals since joining the competition in 2013.

The Warriors scored 4 tries through finals MVP Courtney Dennis (2), Jowayne Forbes and Regeak Siley. Shezraye Thompson kicked 3 conversions and 2 penalty goals. It was an impressive comeback after Dragons flew out the blocks scoring inside 3 minutes. The Warriors staged a discipline comeback which was led by strong carries by Forbes, Dennis and Winston Evans. Meanwhile, the Dragons scored 2 tries through Romario Bartley and Andre Lee. Adrian Hall made 1 conversion.

Reflecting on the season, winning captain Jerome Laird is pleased with their achievement.

"It was a good game, after losing twice to the Dragons in the regular season we wanted to ensure we beat them when it matters. Once we were in their half close to their try area, we wanted to force them to make mistakes and capitalise on them. The season was close and it showed the growth in the competition, and no one is a favourite anymore"

In 3^rd place action, The Duhaney Park Red Sharks defeated St Catherine Thundercats 20-2, Adrian Thomas of the winners scoring twice and kicking one goal to help them defeat the Thundercats.
