St Catherine Thundercats are the 2025 Jamaica National Club Championship (NCC) winners after a thrilling 25-24 win over 8 times defending champions Duhaney Park Red Sharks on September 20. It was a remarkable achievement for the Thundercats who were making their maiden finals with a squad loaded with youngsters. The Red Sharks on the other hand, were in their 17th finals in 19 years and chasing 9 consecutive Grand Finals win.

The Thundercats scored 4 tries through Ronaldeni Fraser, Kahil Green and Brandon Barrett and Aldane Eccleston. Ahmeekie Miller was accurate with the boots, kicking 4 goals from 4 attempts. Meanwhile, the Red Sharks scored 5 tries through Andrew Simpson (2), Alex Williamson, Kevin Thomas, and Adrian Thomas. However, they only kicked 2 goals from 5 attempts, Ryna Grant with the kicks. With only 30 seconds remaining in the game, Fraser found the winner with a beautiful 30m drop kick to send his team into rapturous celebrations.

Reflecting on the season, winning captain Tah-Jay Lynch is pleased with their achievement.

"It's an incredible feeling to realise that this is our second season as Thundercats in the NCC, and we've already won the championship.  We'd always known we had the ability to be exceptional.  Each game became a means of progression, requiring more effort and more robust team discipline.  We gained experience from every match we played, and by the second round, we would have been significantly better than we were at the start.  We are thankful to God for His strength and direction throughout.  Thanks to Rugby League Jamaica, for providing us with the chance to compete and grow in local rugby league.  Let's see what unfolds next for Thundercats."

In 3rd place action, Jamaica Defence Force defeated Liguanea Dragons 70-12, Shezraye Thompson of the winners bagging an incredible 40 points from 6 tries and 8 goals.
