National Division 2, The Decider Round.

St Catherine OB Thundercats


Rugby League Jamaica second week of National Division 2 action saw some exciting games and Group B decided, as three games were played and one postponed. This Round decides the teams placement in their two groups. Group B is now settled with Bulls topping, Hyenas second, Thundercats third and Cyclones in fourth place. Group is left hanging as there has been two postponed games.


Bulls 8 def. Knights 6


Washington Blvd. Bulls upset the Kingston Knights in a tight game at the Mona Bowl, they will face Group A's fourth place finisher in the Quarters on Janauryy 20. Both clubs fielded youthful teams interspersed with a few veterans, but on the day, the Knights looked stronger with national representative players Omar Jones, Eric Grooves and Theodore Walters in their line up. However, a try from high school player Timari Johnson and one from flyer Shawayne Collins were enough to snatch victory for the Bulls whose veterans were Anthony Findlay and Tamichael Watson.


For the Knights, Keemo Mitchell replied with a try and Eric Grooves had a goal. The second scheduled game between Liguanea Dragons and Duhaney Park Firestorms was postponed to December 30th.

St Catherine Old Boy Thundercats prevailed 36-26 in high scoring match versus Cedar Grove Cyclones . The winners were led by a brilliant hat trick from Joseph Daley (3). Five other Cats gave contributions in tries, they were national winger Tahj-Jay Lynch, Romario Hull, Keron Monteque and Iron Simmonds. (Check out this stunning TCats try)


Goals came from Raheem Sweeney (2), Towayne Campbell (1), and Shewayne Smith (1).


The Cyclones battled bravely throughout with player coach Antonio Baker contributed 14 points through 3 tries and a conversion. Rising player Shemar Nugent bagged 8 points from 2 tries and Nathan Brown slotted over 2 goals.

Despite being undermanned, a very experienced Mona Pelicans travelled to St. Elizabeth and took all 3 points from the Sledgehammers with a solid win. For the winners, try scorers were Hakeem Richards, Lawrence Carter, Romario Bartley (see his try here), Michael Pearson and Andrew Dixon. Flyer Andre Lee kicked 4 goals. (


For the Sledgehammers, try scorers were Jaylon Lewis, Reniel Ebanks and Aron Royal. Mickoy Foster kicked two goals.
