Red Sharks, Dragons, and Hyenas Snag NCC Round Seven Wins.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — July 11, 2026 — The Duhaney Park Red Sharks delivered the performance of the round with a dominant shutout of the defending champions, while the Liguanea Dragons maintained their unbeaten record and the West Kingston Hyenas returned to winning ways as Round Seven of the 2026 Rugby League Jamaica National Club Championship (NCC) unfolded at Up Park Camp on Saturday.

The Red Sharks produced a ruthless attacking and defensive display to overwhelm the St. Catherine Thundercats 42-0 and strengthen their position on the tables, moving to second place on nine points from four wins and a draw.

Fullback Alex Williamson opened the scoring before hooker Akeem Murray and second-rower Shaqueil Pollack each crossed twice. Lock Daniel Barnett added another try, while halfback Shamoy Stewart contributed a try and two goals. Winger Adrian Thomas was flawless from the kicking tee, converting five tries to finish with 10 points.

Red Sharks head coach Jason Gooden praised the team's all-round effort.

"The boys were outstanding. We defended with intensity, completed our sets well and took our opportunities when they came. It's an important win, but we know there is still plenty of work ahead."

The defending champions struggled to find rhythm throughout the contest and were held scoreless for the full 80 minutes. For much of the passage of play, the Thundercats appeared rudderless, playing from side to side , and unable to break through a tough Redsharks defence. They now slip to fifth in the table, on five points

Thundercats captain Tahj-Jay Lynch acknowledged his side's disappointing performance.

"Credit to the Red Sharks, they were the better team today. We didn't execute well enough, but we'll learn from it, regroup and come back stronger."

West Kingston Hyenas secured their second victory of the campaign with a hard-fought 24-14 win over the Washington Boulevard Bulls. Only two points separated the teams at halftime as the Hyenas led 14-12. However, in the second half, the winners found the weakness in the Bulls defensive system, attacking the right channel before shifting left with quick hands and scoring each time. They now sit fourth on the table on seven points.

Fullback Keshane Orane led the way with a try and three goals, while Oshane Francis, Errick Groves and Shemar Rowe also crossed. Neville Lynch added a conversion as the Hyenas controlled the crucial moments of the contest.

The Bulls remained competitive through winger Timarri Johnson, who scored twice, while Carl Thompson also crossed and Shaquille Drummond added the conversion. They were unlucky not to take the lead after half time, Marlon Richards touching down in the right corner from executing a lovely kick and chase, however, it was ruled a knock-on by referee Andrew Dixon. The Bulls remain at the bottom of the pack on one point.

Hyenas head coach Robert Hawes was pleased with his team's response.

"We asked the players for a disciplined performance and they delivered. There are still areas to improve, but the effort and commitment were excellent today."

Bulls head coach Oshane Edie believes his young side continues to progress.

"We're showing signs of improvement every week. We competed for long periods, but we need to cut out errors and be more consistent if we want to turn performances into victories."

Competition leaders Liguanea Dragons continued their unbeaten march through the season with a composed 30-14 victory over the JDF Warriors. They sit comfortable atop the tables on thirteen points.

Adrian Hall starred with a try and five goals, while Hakeem Richards crossed twice. Andre Lee, Romario Bartley and Randy Clarke also added tries as the Dragons secured their sixth win of the campaign.

The Warriors fought hard through tries from Shemar Burrell and Winston Evans, while Shezraye Thompson added three goals, but they were unable to match the Dragons' consistency over the 80 minutes. The Warriors are now in third place on seven points.

Dragons head coach Donovan Jackson praised his side's professionalism.

"The Warriors challenged us throughout, but I thought we stayed patient and stuck to our systems. The players continue to show great commitment, and we're pleased to remain unbeaten."

JDF Warriors head coach Roydell Reid said his team would learn from the defeat.

"There were positive moments, but we didn't execute well enough against a quality opponent. We'll review the performance, make adjustments and prepare for the next challenge."
